Questioning if I'm Autistic and Facing Hurtful Accusations

me possibly being autistic has been an ongoing conversation between me and my mom for a few weeks now. i've been questioning being autistic for maybe a year or two now, and i'm fairly positive i am. i had a talk with my mom a few days ago and she agrees that i should get tested, but she said some really hurtful things... she said to me that she thinks i'm faking this for attention. that i'm doing it to be special. now, i know i'm not faking. i have to hide this from people and it's causing me pain. i'm glad she agrees i should get tested but the fact that she thinks i would do that... it hurts.

i have taken the RAADS-R and scored a little over 180, which highly points to me being autistic, but my mom has this stupid idea that because i'm looking so far into it, i'm faking, that i'm just convincing myself i'm autistic. i could definitely try but it's not a guarantee :/ i appreciate the suggestion though /g

There is a test called the RAADS-R which is an older test for autism that is available online since it is older that you can take to give your mom more hard data.

i’m so sorry she said something so ignorant and hurtful. :( i hope you grow a strong supportive circle of people around you who don’t accuse you of faking things, you deserve that

Don't let what others say bother you like that; I know easier said than done. It doesn't matter if someone thinks your faking or not, others will be understand and are willing to chat about it and help you out, I know it hurts for someone so close to say that but that is on them, not you. So try and not feel like you can or should control others; people are going to have their opinions, good or bad. You just need to focus on you, no one else.
