How do I know if I qualify for anxiety meds? I think I should be I am pretty young so maybe that’s why?

Talk with a doctor. If you don’t have one, get one. They can better assess how this is influencing your daily life. I started anxiety meds at 18(but I should have started earlier). Everyone is different and a trained physician can help you better.

Best bet is talk to a psych, if you can't you can talk to your primary doc and most can prescribe basic meds for anxiety or refer you to a psych

i was in high school when i first started taking anxiety meds! if ur anxiety symptoms negatively impact ur life, u qualify for meds and therapy (if u want it). i recommend talking to ur doctor abt it if u don't have a psychiatrist yet, they can refer u to one! hope this helps

I recommend checking out LifeStance website. They do online assessments and prescribe meds through there as well. You can get in with them very quickly too.

If you have an anxiety disorder that impacts you weekly in ways that make it difficult to function, a psychiatrist would prescribe a pill to take daily. If you have certain things that trigger you and are fine otherwise they may give you something stronger to take as needed. If you’re impacted daily and still have occasions where that isn’t enough then you may be prescribed both. Be careful not to settle for meds that give annoying side effects there are so many choices so make sure to experiment with a few if the first ones don’t work how you want them too. But you cannot get meds without a psychiatrist diagnosing you and prescribing them so that would be the first step. I had my first meds when I was 16 but those didn’t work well for me so I gave up on them until later as an adult.

You have to get a diagnosis from a psychiatrist and if they don’t mention assigning medication which they usually do, take the liberty of telling them that you’d like to try medication. They are wary about assigning meds to people under 18 but definitely talk it out with your psychiatrist.

Do you have any type of anxiety attacks? Are you constantly worried? Honestly my anxiety meds should have happened way before I had anxiety attacks or it got close to that point. I would talk it out with your psychiatrist and hopefully they are helpful
