Celebrating a small victory in my PTSD recovery

I don't have anyone to be proud of me so I'm just gonna post it here. I got a shower today and i didnt have a panic attack during it! that probably means nothing to whoever reads this but I'm really happy since this is the first time since my PTSD started kicking my butt.

I'm so incredibly proud of you! I know how much of a struggle that can be. The trick that I used in order to be able to take a shower was to shower in the dark with a candle or some small sense of light. That has been helping me get through the years with PTSD. You are doing a fantastic job! Reading your post made me so happy for you.

That is seriously amazing! I remember when I could start taking showers without panic attacks too. I had no idea others had this same struggle with ptsd and showers. I always thought I was the weird one out 😂 but seriously that is amazing. Soon enough your showers will turn into a place that calms you as you escape from the stress of life instead of being something you have to prepare for. You got this and you’re so strong to keep pushing through everything each day. Don’t give up on your healing journey. 💕

take small steps my friend.. try turning the lights off and listening to music that brings you joy. Or if you have a safe space toy or something you hold with you try to relieve some of the stress with it. You got this love and I'm proud of you

I'm so so proud! I was assaulted a few times two over two and a half years ago and still shower with the lights off, but remember how proud I was when I could shower at all. Go you!!
