Dream journaling helped me with nightmares alot. write out the whole nightmare up until the ending as soon as you wake up. When you get to the last part, rewrite how it ends to give yourself control over it. It might take a few times but eventually it will work and chsnge your dream. Especially with recurring terrors.

Honestly, I can’t sleep with out taking hydroxyzine and prazosin for nightmares. But I do some things that do help, playing some soothing music before I fall asleep, reminding myself that I’m safe and it’s not happening again; butterfly tapping with a positive message to myself. Doing a soothing activity, such as yoga. Somatic therapy I’ve found is helpful for cptsd and calming down that hyper active brain.
