My Experience with Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures and a Medical Bracelet

I got a medical bracelet yesterday. It was an early Christmas gift from my mom. I had a seizure middle of last month while I was waiting for the bus in a hospital lobby. I have psychogenic non-epileptic seizures, they can’t be treated the same way, nor do they look like a typical seizure. My family and friends know what to look for, and I have an aide for going out because I’m always disoriented or even unconscious after them. It’s more like a drugged sleep or a faint. My aide had to go to the bathroom and I had a seizure, I woke up to my bus driver calling my name. I was lucky he recognized me. My aide came back two minutes later, and it’s not like I can ask her to never go to the bathroom. But coming to like that scared the crap out of me. We ordered a bracelet with both engraved information and a QR code by the weekend. Now I feel, I don’t know how to even explain it. Like I’m overreacting? Like I’m a child with a name tag? I know intellectually why it’s needed, I’m the one who wanted it, but it doesn’t change how I feel every time I look at it.

I totally understand you. I had a cluster of seizures in a shopping mall and the ambulance crew couldn't figure who to call for next of kin for 3 hours. So now I have medical ID and I hate it. I hide it
