[TW: Mention of SH and thoughts of unaliving] Why do I feel like my Prozac suddenly isn't working? I've been taking it for a while, could I maybe just need to switch SSRI types? I've suddenly been very overwhelmed with su!cidal thoughts and relapsed with my self injury

I took Prozac it was the first medicine I tried for depression & anxiety. It worked at first then it started giving me graphic nightmares. I switched when I took it. I switched to Lexapro and it worked better.

I took prozac for around 2 years, it was helping a lot but I noticed I started feeling my symptoms again and realized it wasn't working anymore. I've tried different meds but still haven't found something to replace it unfortunately

Is this the first med you've been on? Sometimes your body can create a tolerance for a med or a class of meds. If you've tried multiple meds and different classes of meds, ask your prescriber about treatment resistant depression alternatives. Either way, tell them soon that the symptoms aren't being controlled by it. You may need a higher dose.
