Prozac and Alcohol: Effectiveness Over Time

Prozac worked really well for me for the first six months but then I started drinking while on the medication. I’ve since stopped but the medication is a lot less effective than it was before. Has anyone else had a similar experience and knows if the effectiveness improves over time? If not, what anti-anxiety and depression medications worked in lieu of it?

Which one worked? And what were the side effects that made you stop the others?

My doctor just told me not to drink alcohol excessively so I’ll partake a couple of times a week maybe. Maybe it’s time to switch antidepressants? I’ve had to switch mine a couple of times because they weren’t really working until I found one that did.
