Pregnant with Gastroparesis: Balancing My Health and My Baby's

Currently having to take zofran and reglan for gastroparesis during pregnancy. I’m only 7 weeks along and I’m worried the zofran could cause an issue with my baby. Without it I hurl multiple times a day and am so nauseated I cannot get out of bed. It’s a big stressor to feel that I could be sacrificing my babies health in order to maintain my own. Any encouragement?

Zofran has been known to be very low risk during pregnancy. I personally would be more worried about the Reglan. I would just say as long as your doctor is monitoring things while you’re on Zofran, then it should be okay. Taking the Zofran is probably better than the stress that repeatedly vomiting would put on your baby. So it’s necessary for both your health and in turn your baby’s. If it helps your body be less stressed, it’s a good thing. Remember too to give yourself some grace and self-care. You are doing your best and you are doing awesome.
