Struggling with POTS at work

Sometimes it really sucks having POTS. I have to use a cane at work since my legs are in pain and I get extremely dizzy. I work for 8 hours and I’m standing through most of it, but even though I know I need my cane, I still feel like I’m faking or I don’t need it. I hate the stares and whispers. Sometimes I feel like I’m faking since I’ve never fainted (been close but never actually fainted). It’s always a back and forth with myself. Anyone else feel like this?

oh definitely! When I’m having good days and have fewer dizzy spells and no pain I feel so guilty like I’m faking everything. But then a flare up comes and I regret ever thinking that 😂

I live with my parents. (I'm young and can't work as of right now). I asked to get a cane or walker and they were like, "You don't want to look disabled, do you?". The imposter syndrome is so strong though. If it's a good day you're probably not even sick. If it's a bad day, you're probably being oversensitive/ dramatic and it's not that bad.

I hope you realize that all of that being said to you is wrong…

Also I was speaking to one of my doctors and they said that it's not very common for people with POTS to faint especially frequently and that it could be signs of other health conditions.

Oh my gosh. My doctor hardly gave me any information about pots when I was diagnosed, so I didn’t know it could be the source behind my severe leg pain, so I’m glad I saw this post. —-Moving on from that, I want you to know that you are absolutely NOT faking. Your experience with POTS is just as real as anyone else’s, and it’s actually not as common for those with POTS to faint as it may seem!!
