Navigating the Opposite Treatments for POTs and Migraines

Does anyone else with POTs also suffer from Migraines and have a hard time navigating the opposite treatments? My migraine medication is a diuretic, because if I eat too much salt, I will retain water, and get a migraine, but if I don’t eat enough salt, my POTs gets bad. So I have to be sure I have a migraine to take my meds, because if it’s POTs, it makes it so much worse. I feel like there is an answer I am missing, but it is so stressful!

@persephone9 Thank you! I have a really slow resting heart rate so I haven’t been able to take beta blockers but I really appreciate the suggestion! I’ve heard those can be helpful for POTs.

Yes!! I have Idiopathic Migraine! I'm on Aimovig injections once a month and it works wonders! It's approved for people 18+

So I’m a medical assistant and I’ve seen beta blockers like metoprolol or propranolol be used for both migraines (off brand uses include treating migraines) and POTS (slow heart rate down). I know it can get complicated to find the right mix of meds - don’t get discouraged! ❤️
