Positive Covid Test Triggering Health Anxiety

Health anxiety/hypochondria folks- I just tested positive for Covid. This has triggered my health anxiety (which I have had a pretty ok handle on) and I’m panicking. All of a sudden all of my previous worries are back, all of these things are probably wrong. Have any of you experienced this? If so, how did you cope with it? My DBT skills aren’t fully helping. Once I convince myself something is wrong it can’t un-convince myself. If nothing else, please drop some kind words. I really need it. Thanks a bunch

Hey, sending hugs across the ether to you, I’m so sorry you’re in the position of having to deal with this. I have health anxiety too and a year and half ago I had covid. It was really scary, but you’ll make it through, you’ll be okay, just try to lean on whatever support you have (like this, good job!) and distract yourself as best you can. You can do this!

I had covid in February and also have some pretty strong health anxiety. You’re going to be okay and you’re stronger than the hypochondria is (even if you don’t feel like it sometimes). Remember to self soothe when you can and try to take time to talk to people about what you’re feeling. Try not to socially isolate- send texts, call peeps if you can, don’t be too scared to reach out. Distraction is good too- watch or read something really immersive, doodle if you like to, listen to podcasts. You’re going to be just fine and you’re not alone. 💕
