For me, I have a son with epilepsy, so I knew immediately when I had my first seizure that it was not the same as what he goes through. I already had a neuro and a psych team. They did an EEG and MRI and after that came back normal, and taking all of my psychological stressors into account, they diagnosed me with it. My neuro did offer to do a video EEG, but felt it was a waste of time given my psych background. First step is definitely to get into a neurologist and rule out true epilepsy. Good luck!

I did a stay in the epilepsy unit at my local hospital. They said when I had a seizure, my brain waves didn't change and that meant I had P.N.E.S
