Struggling to Get a PMDD Diagnosis

Did anyone else have a hard time finding out that they had pmdd?? ⚠️small tw for suicide mention⚠️ I remember going to my primary doctor and telling her that around and during my periods I get so depressed that it goes to me wanting to commit. She told me that was normal for people who get periods. A few years later I go to a gynecologist and see a therapist and I get my PMDD diagnosis really fast.

I was hospitalized inpatient in and out for over a year. Every single time I was in there after a few days I got my period. To get period products you have to go to the staff and ask. The fact that I was literally watched every second of every day during multiple cycles and wasn’t diagnosed until I figured it out myself and saw a gyno myself is completely mind-boggling to me
