Hi, I'm new to this app, but I thought I'd try and get some recommendations on how to go about this. My therapist said it was likely I have a personality disorder. (Childhood trauma, parental trauma, losses in the family, just overall not good lol) But my closest specialist is 5 hours away, and I cannot afford it. I know I've always felt uncomfortable in life, never satisfied with much, and my husband seems to notice I'm more off than usual. What do you recommend? Should I save up and see a specialist? Should I continue therapy? Should I just try to change how I go about life daily? What works for you?

Working with a personality disorder is difficult, I can definitely attest to that. I recommend that you stick to therapy for now, and if there comes a time in your life where you can afford a specialist, try it out. Although certain therapists may struggle with personality disorders, it's better than nothing, and you can talk with your therapist to figure out what personality disorder it exactly may be. A 5 hour trip to a specialist that you need to save up for is a hit or miss on whether it'd go well. You can also talk to the therapist on better options nearby if they're available. In any case, I wish you luck

@sillyashell Thank you so much! And yes, unfortunately in the state I live in disorders such as this are blown off and straight up ignored. I'm just glad I found a therapist that could potentially help.
