Has anyone been diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction after thinking it was initially IC? Or any experience with pelvic floor dysfunction?

Not diagnosed but I went to a myofascial release therapist and it helped my symptoms reverse 60%. She found my fascial tissue was tightly restricting my bladder, kidney and ureter on the right side. When she release it I felt so much release. I had three sessions and feel no need to go back because I’m in full remission now for the past 3 years after suffering from IC since 2009 but generally bladder problems since I was a toddler.

Does your physical therapist give you at home exercises or stretches to do?

@Sleepysleeps yeah she did, I do those at home every morning and also use a roller, and recently bought a pelvic wand which is suppose to help.

I’m getting a cystoscopy scheduled soon to see if I have IC or not. Just to make sure, but my urologist believes I don’t. Talk about pelvic floor dysfunction has come up and I plan to try physical therapy. I hear it’s super painful but I’m ready to try it.

@MexicanToasty I also had a Cystoscopy but my urologist said that it doesn’t always show whether it’s IC or not. Sometimes if the bladder is very inflamed, it might be help to figure out if it’s IC but mine was completely normal and my urologist still said it could be IC so it’s so difficult to tell :/

No but physical therapy can be super helpful with that!

@Sleepysleeps I agree, I’ve only seen my physical therapist 3x but I feel great every time.. for a few weeks but then my muscles tend to go back to how they’ve been but it’s been very helpful and I wanted to see if anyone struggles mainly with that, rather than IC and see if they also saw any relief with eliminating certain foods from their diet
