Struggling with PCOS and Weight Gain

I think the worst thing about PCOS is that people mainly see it has a overweight thing. I had PCOS for a long time before I was officially diagnosed and no one believed me not even my doctors. I hate the excessive hair growth, the ridiculous fatigue (especially being in college I’m fighting everyday for energy), the mental it takes to keep being positive even when you feel Awful, but what’s worse to me is the weight gain. I workout, I eat healthy and I feel like just breathing I gain 30Lbs. Not only is it embarrassing but it kills my self esteem sometimes. It just makes me want to hide. How do yall cope, or try to make yourself feel confident?

I just got a diagnosis myself, and I swear I could have written your post. 😜 My big symptoms are/were fatigue, excess testosterone levels, dark skin patch on my neck, trouble losing weight, and as of the last year irregular periods. It sucks, and it sucks even more when you want to lose the weight but just CAN'T and have doctors tell you the same thing over and over. I'm dealing with a similar low right now as well, but one thing I keep trying to repeat to myself is a comment my GYN said at my last visit: PCOS is a battle, and the only thing you can ask of yourself and improve upon is to keep trying. ❤️ I know it's tough, believe me, I'm going through a lot of the internal/mental pain right now but know youre not alone.

Totally feel less girly! My ex was amazingly understanding and sweet about my insecurities surrounding my facial hair. Dating since then has been awkward for me. I dread having my face touched by anyone. But having been with a partner who was so great about it I have faith I’ll find someone understanding again. Also, I’ve had gal pals make comments/suggestions about it in the past (I’m lucky that I have a pretty thick skin) but I just say “hey, it’s a pain in my ass and you’re lucky you don’t have to worry about it”. Really reassuring connecting with you all that can relate!

I feel u on the vicious cycle majorly overwhelming 😭😭😭. I get the hair growth but mainly on my chin and sides of my face. I know dealing with hair that normally shouldn’t be growing there or that much is soooo Annoying. I don’t know if you feel the same but growing hair like that makes me feel less girly in a way idk 🙂. At least I know that I’m not the only one dealing with PCOS, and there’s others like you who are dealing with it too. 🥺💗. It helps me feel less alone.

I relate to this so much! I feel you on the weight gain - and with the fatigue it makes it a vicious cycle. I find the hair growth most frustrating. I’ve done super expensive hair removal treatments, creams, waxing, and shaving. Shaving in the morning daily was working up until 2 years ago- now it seems like by noon I have a 5 o’clock shadow and by the end of the day fuller beard growth than my brother! Nothing helpful to say here I suppose other than you’re not alone!
