not diagnosed as of rn but i meet diagnostic criteria (cysts havent been confirmed though ofc) i'm seeing a lot of people recommend spironolactone and i just want to put it out there that i had a really bad experience with it! it might just be that i got super dehydrated & needed more salt and water, or it might have been that my body couldn't adjust to having so little testosterone. it was prescribed to me for acne & i ended up with severe brain fog, dizziness, low blood pressure, depression and just slightly less acne. it really helps a lot of people with PCOS but just be aware of side effects if anyone here does decide to try it! 💕

I'm on finesteride and it really has helped slow the hiruticism. As for the issues with menstruation? Hysterectomy. Best thing I ever did.

@Neuco what is finesteride? I would do a hysterectomy but my doc said because of my case I’m at a huge risk for complications.

@FigureSkater03 it's a medication. It manages the hormones without the side effects of birth control. If you don't mind me asking, what complications is he worried about?

@Neuco I want a hysterectomy but all my doctors just brush it off because of my age. I’m even at an increased risk for uterine cancer because of family history but the doctors refuse to do a hysterectomy because I “may want kids someday”. It’s absolutely frustrating.

@DoodleCaboodle there's a list on r/childfree of doctors that will do it. I highly recommend it. I even put the one who did mine on it. I was only 28 when I got mine-no kids and didn't require my spouse's permission

Norethindrone 10mg per day has been the best thing for my situation

I take birth control full time and no longer have periods, it has helped immeasurably. It has no long term side effects in doing so either, talk to your gyn about it. As well as I'm on Spironalactone a hormone regulater.
