I've never taken any kind of birth control for it :/ I took Metformin and now I take Spironolact

I was diagnosed with PCOS back in 2017 and in 2018 I got the Nexplanon implant in my arm. The first 4 or 5 months it was wonderful! I never had a period I felt great and I was losing weight. Then starting the 6th month I started having my period constantly. I was bleeding for over 2 months straight and it was heavy bleeding. My mood and emotions were all over the place. I went to many doctors about this and they said not to worry. One ended up putting me on the pill along with the implant and I never felt worse in my life. Mentally and physically I just felt like crap. I've talked to other women in my life about the implant in general and they have similar stories to me. When I finally found a doctor who would take the implant out she said that this thing works like a dream for a small percentage of people but a lot more its not a great choice. After removing the implant I've been in a strict zero gluten diet and a lot more exercise. I still have the symptoms of PCOS but it's way better than the emotional roller coaster I had while on that implant. I don't want to scare you away from everything but this is just what my experience was ❤️ I know how lost you may feel and I'm crossing my fingers that this treatment works for you! I kept the implant in for 2 1/2 years.

I have PCOS and have had my implant for 3 years, and actually getting a new one tomorrow! It is wonderful!! Especially if you’re like me and have a bad reaction to artificial estrogen in pills. It doesn’t necessarily help my PCOS but I think it makes the BC side effects not as prominent

Everyone will react differently unfortunately. I have heard from people with PCOS that absolutely swear by the Nexplanon or Implanon implants. But for me, I bled for a year straight, no breaks and super heavy and my DR refused to remove it until I finally had enough and told them I would take it out myself if they didn't do it because the bleeding was too much for me to handle anymore.

I have pcos and nexplanon and I love it. I had some spotting the first couple months, but haven't had a period now for a couple of years which is great considering I think pcos contributed to some of my pms and painful period symptoms.
