My doctor told me that really intense cramps for mretty much 3/4 of my cycle (however long it decides to be) aren't related to my pcos. I went to the ER because they thought I had appendicitis a month ago I was in that much pain. Logically I think is must be something pcos related and maybe my doctor just doesn't know enough. I was prescribed ponstel to try and help but it's done nothing. It's making me anxious all the time every time I even get a stomach ache thinking it's starting again. Is it worth trying to see a specialist about it or is this possibly just my pcos causing it?

Intense cramps can be a number of things, however from my experience with PCOS that can be related. It's definitely worth looking into if you are in pain. I dont know much about Endometriosis, but painful cramping can be linked to it, but that's not always the case. I had really painful cramps before I was put on birth control to help with my PCOS symptoms

@GingerSnapple thanks for your reply! They did ask if I'd consider birth control but I'm only allowed on 1 on the types of tablet and I reacted badly to it previously and the coil and the implant or injection are too long term as I'm hoping to start trying for a baby soon!

@100Percent_K thanks for your advice, I wonder if they might have spotted endo on my ultrasounds when I was diagnosed with pcos? Worth having a chat with my doctor anyway I suppose. Although I don't have particularly heavy periods when I do get then which I though was common with endometriosis?

@spatula endometriosis does not show up on imaging, so no they wouldn’t have unfortunately. Heavy periods are indicative of adenomyosis, but not endometriosis

Pain throughout your cycle can also be endometriosis. I have both PCOS and endo which it isn’t uncommon to have both, so worth consulting someone more specialized
