Hi and happy new year! Just wondering, has anyone experienced hair thinning with pcos? I was diagnosed about 6 years ago because I had irregular periods and one of my main symptoms besides a little more body hair was my fact my hair has thinned. I used to have the longest and thickest hair and now it’s half the thickness and doesn’t grow. Does anyone have any recommendations to help this? Thanks so much in advance for any help. Have a wonderful day everyone x

@BrokenRainbows Thanks so much for your response. Have you found that keratin works? I have started taking Saw Palmetto as a natural androgen blocker and I don’t think I have seen any results yet but I might just pursue with it for a bit longer x

Yes, I have recently been struggling with this as well. There are some supplements that can help with it, such as Keratin in some cases. Androgen blockers have also helped some people as well. There’s also a drug called “Minoxidil” that is proven to help with female hair loss. ❤️

@AntoniaElla Keratin has seemed to help a little bit once I stated taking androgen blockers and my hair started to grow back. I’ve definitely noticed it thinning less and growing back stronger, since I started taking both at the same time. I would agree to keep at it for awhile because it took a few months before I started to see some change. 💕

Yes, I have had a major problem with it which really bums me out. My part has thinned considerably. It doesn’t help that I also have seborrheic dermatitis too. I am on birth control and spironolactone which has helped keep a small amount.

@MNVikingfan Thanks so much for your response. I’ll have a look into spironolactone. I came off the birth control to try and sort my hormones and look into the actual root cause of my symptoms. I am booked in to see a PCOS specialist (privately of course, because I feel GP’s etc. are useless) so hopefully I will get some answers x
