Paxil and Weight Gain: Did it Happen to You?

I know we each have our own experiences, but Paxil was the second worst for me, as prescribed for depression and anxiety. They said the anxiety might get worse before better, so they added xanax. I was a robot. I went back and have been on Lexapro and it works. Again... my personal experience.

That was the first medication I was prescribed, back when I was 8 or 9. The psychiatrist sucked and didn’t bother to inform us that it commonly caused severe weight gain in children and adolescents, and I gained 40 lbs in two months from it. I’ve heard from people who went on it as young adults or older that it increased their appetite by quite a bit, but there are also people it has helped. But out of the people I’ve talked to/come across who’ve tried it, most of them had too strong of an appetite or weight gain side-effect to want to stay on it.

I was on Paxil 20mg for about a year. I gained 20lbs.
