My mother refuses to believe my autism diagnosis. My father had the idea to have me tested as a child but my mother refused and he isn't really in my life anymore. She says I am too intelligent to be on the spectrum, but learning disorders and the autism spectrum are two different things. It is especially frustrating since she hasexperience with autistic children. That said, I have learned not to look to get for approval, if she doesn't want to accept things about me, that is fine.

I wasn't officially diagnosed with autism until a year or so just because my mother didn't believe I had any symptoms. But that's because she trained me to mask and hide everything my whole life
