Painful Instillations: Is This Normal?

I am going through a round of instillations right now. The nurse had trouble with the catheter and I'm experiencing awful and unusual pain today. I've never had issues with instills before. is this normal?

Yeah, this happens sometimes. Some people have a gentler hand than others. Sitting on an ice pack helped the last time this happened to me. It took a few days to feel better. I'd contact your doctor if it hurts beyond that point or if you can't get any relief from any of the suggestions you find here. So sorry this happened!

Hey, it’s possible that bc the nurse was struggling, it really irritated your urethra, I think that’s happened with me before too. I just took some AZO (which didn’t necessarily help) and then the pain disappeared after 2 days. But it hurt like hell every time I urinated.

But I would definitely reach out to the provider and let them know what’s going on and see what they say
