Looking for Pain Management Options for Fibromyalgia

What is everyone taking for pain control for fibro? I was on the highest dose of gabapentin for years, but found it wasn’t working for me any more so I was switched to lyrica, but within weeks had to stop that due to extreme water retention and weight gain. Blah…. Waiting on next appointment with my neurologist who manages my meds for my fibro, and I’m looking for some other options to talk with him about!! Does anyone know or heard about lidocaine infusions for treatment of fibro?

I was on Gabapentin for years but became allergic. Lyrica didn't work for me at all and only caused weight gain. In addition to fibromyalgia I also have osteoarthritis in my lumbar and lower thoracic spine. Another member here told me she was on TOPIRAMATE for nerve pain so my doctor started me on the lowest dose twice a day (always starts me on lowest dose of anything because of my MANY allergies). It has helped. I'm not waking up in severe pain anymore and my limping is almost eliminated. I hope that info helps. I can't take any opioids as am also allergic to those, so my doctor as to be creative in treating me.

I’ve used Gabupenten and Cymbalta in the past. Now I’m taking Lyrica and Tramadol along with a muscle relaxer.

I'm on 1600 mg of Gabapentin twice a day and it's not really working anymore.

I have experience with Lidocaine patches, but didn't really get relief. I hope you have better luck.

I'm on a patch prescribed by my doctor called Butrans. You change it once a week. It's helped me more than any oral medication.

Tramadol and Lyrica have worked really well to manage my pain. Zanaflex for muscle spasms.

Cymbalta! Loved it and it also acts as an antidepressant when it builds up in the body. Loved it for months until I started having the hallucination side effect; I’m sure this happened bc it reacted with marijuana. But my CFS had my weight dangerously low, no other medicines help, and some meds treating other symptoms actually suppressed my appetite so medical marijuana is the only thing that can keep me eating regularly so far. It also helps manage a drop pain wise so it was more beneficial for me to leave cymbalta behind but I would ask your doctor about it!!! Maybe even medical marijuana for pain if it’s legal where you are. Pls nothing off the street they’re putting craziness in tht stuff. Hope something I said helps, be safe & happy healing 💝💝💝

Been on gabapentin for 27 years, still works for me. Also on cymbalta..it helps a little more... especially with my arthritis...5 joints surgically fixed, injections in other sites...

I use gabapentin and a muscle relaxer. The biggest thing for me is meloxicam it's an anti-inflammatory and it made me days doable again

I'm sad about the lyrica thing working for some... it made me break out in hives over my entire body. Gabapentin makes me feel drunk, I've never found anything other than green mang dae Kratom that helps the achiness and pain. And it's not a good long term solution.

Btw I love your name! I am on naltrexone and it has decreased my pain some. But haven’t ever tried lidocaine infusions. Hope your neurologist can help. My neurologist only works with me on my migraines. He won’t discuss my fibromyalgia. We have yet to find any medication to take my migraines away.

Lyrica (sorry it didn’t work out for you) and low dose naltrexone. LDN has made a huge difference in lowering my daily pain!
