Has anyone tried pain counseling for fibromyalgia?

My pain management doc wants to get me into pain counseling, because my fibro was triggered by trauma. I do see a therapist but not a PAIN specialized therapist. has anyone else here tried pain counseling and did it help you? this bit is new to me and I'm trying to navigate how to find the right kind of counselor for me and everything.

So with my chronic pain disorder, they sent me to consulting but honest for me it didn’t help. It only made me feel worse about speaking up about my pain. My pain therapist wanted me to write down what triggered my pain and how to prevent it next time. Because of my disorder, anything can trigger it cause of Elhers danlos syndrome (joints sublexing or full dislocations). But this was only my experience as she also told me my pain doesn’t define me as a person, it is just a single line in my story.
