How the heck do I get over phone call anxiety?? I’m 27 and can’t make a phone call. I just put it off cuz I hate it so much.

I usually write down bullet points I need to make. Like for a doctors appointment, I write availability, reason, hell sometimes I write my own name and birthday down 😅.

Love the script tips! I’m 30 and also get nervous making calls, and end up putting them off. Sometimes I “warm up” by calling a friend or family member to say hi, then when I hang up immediately make that call I was dreading

I don't write scripts, but that's a brilliant idea! I usually just rehearse what needs to be discussed over and over in my head...I hate making any calls, but making appointments and stuff like that is doable since it can be rehearsed-- personal calls are my big struggle right now... I struggle to make or take calls from friends and often even family because it's more spontaneous and can't be planned out as easily. I wish i had an answer for how to make those kinds of calls easier... Hold your breath and make the call on the count of 2? 😅😖 Overthinking it can just make it so much worse...It's so hard

I feel you! My parents definitely were belittling about it, like I couldn’t “act like an adult” and make phone calls myself😢 but I agree with others, sometimes I make a script!

What kind of calls give you anxiety? Family calls or “business” calls ? I make sure I pee first! I also keep a glass of water or tea nearby. I either intentionally sit dow to focus, or pace wildly around. Walking outside while on the phone helps too. For business calls, I write down my questions and keep a pen handy for any info they give me. For family, I usually start off by telling them how much time I expect to be on the phone, or what I think my limit will be. Underestimate a bit in case it runs over time. Lay down for 5-10 minutes and do NOTHING afterward.

@SoftYarn business but mostly medical type calls since I tend to be seen by doctors a lot. 😂 but this post was inspired because I need to find housing and I’m putting off talking to landlords 😂

i write a script too and it usually helps me! i also like to call when i know they’re closed and leave a voicemail so they have to call me back. for some reason answering the phone is way easier for me than calling myself!
