Overcoming Hidradenitis Suppurativa Flare Ups

Hi, I’m 19 years old. I’ve been living with HS since middle school but was only recently diagnosed about 2 years ago. My question is, has anyone actually overcome there flare ups and how?

My flares started developing around the start of puberty but I wasn't diagnosed until 21. That was 5 years ago. Hibiclens antiseptic wash, dial gold bar soap, all laundry PACs, and aluminum free deodorant have helped so much. I also got the touchless body personal trimmer that is used for facial hair but it's gold plated and non irritating if you feel the need to shave. If you are able to (or if it applies) wear tank tops and no bras. Huge trigger for me 🤷‍♀️ try to minimize your sweat with anti perspiration pads .... Major trigger for any HS flare. I've found that my diet does not affect my HS but you might want to try an allergen elimination diet to make sure nothing is a trigger too. Most importantly be confident and gorgeous in your own skin, it really does make or break you. I'm always here to talk to!

I'm in the same boat, HS hits around puberty but usually isn't diagnosed for a while after that. I got my diagnosis when I was 20. unfortunately you can't really cure HS, but sometimes with the right treatments the symptoms can all-but vanish. what works for you however kind of depends on the person, and a bunch of trial and error. there are tons of online resources with suggestions for lifestyle changes that have helped people, as well as home remedies to alleviate flare-ups. the things that have worked best for me so far are warm compresses on painful spots, wearing looser and more breathable clothing, and finding a dermatologist who specializes in HS. I definitely lucked out in finding one, but if you can it really does make a world of difference
