How to overcome ADD so I can write again. So I was diagnosed with ADD when I was younger. It didn't really bother me all too much but now that I am in my late twenties I have noticed a dramatic increase in symptoms. I have trouble sleeping, I forget how to spell words which make no sense because I am a writer, I am forgetting chores and simple tasks not even an hour later, and I can't bring myself to write even though I desperately want to. I see my psychiatric doctor on Tuesday and bring up these things but in the meantime, is there any way I can write again? Should I use outlines, drafts, or something else? Not writing hurts terribly since it is my passion and major coping skill so any help is greatly appreciated.

I feel this problem myself. What I do is make sure I take my medication regularly, and if I can't write on one thing, I work on something else. You can also try burst writing exercises. Set a timer for five minutes and just didn't stop writing until the timer goes off. Even if you just put "I am writing. I am writing." Over save over. Getting started is the hardest part. Even if you don't like what you wrote, if it gets you started, you can always edit later. Hope that makes sense.
