I would like to suggest avoiding cough drops and dairy during flare ups. Sugar feeds inflammation. I personally like to soothe my esophagus with a cold or warm drink. Natural sugars or Sucralose should be fine so you can have honey in some tea.

I didn’t have a lump sensation like you describe but it did help with my acidic feeling

It does at times but try cough drops/diet changes on top
