It got triggered at age 26 by a stressful move. There was some signs the months leading up to it.

I was diagnosed just a few months ago and I am 23. I also kept all the thoughts to myself, but I spilled them with a knowledgeable therapist and she was able to put a name to it. I thought I was just weird but thankfully I’m not!

Hello, I was diagnosed at 19. It was the summer after my first year away at college. I was prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft) and have been taking it ever since. I am now 44 years old. My dosage is 300 mg per day, which shocks people when I tell them my dosage, but my psychiatrist assures me that can be a normal dosage for someone with OCD. I suppose I have to trust her. My OCD and anxiety comes in waves every 3 years or so. During these times I use Clonazepam (Klonopin) as needed to calm down.

I can't wait to be diagnosed. I didn't know I was so textbook (recently started watching Monk for the first time and realized we are literally the same in ticks, the way we talk, and other similarities..) ever since the constant short circles of thoughts have stopped now that I figured it out myself. I also said they misdiagnosed my bipolar for anxiety and depression. Whala. Diagnosed for that. It's like it has always been there and nobody paid enough attention to me. Ever. So I feel ya so hard.

Hello!! I was diagnosed with OCD last year when I was 24. After talking with my therapist, it definitely seems like I had been having intrusive thoughts and performing compulsions since I was about 10 years old. I definitely felt relief like you mentioned too, because I could now name that the thought is intrusive and recognize when I am performing compulsions

I as well, I was diagnosed around 23. There were certain issues I had since like 15 that I was aware resembled OCD. I also mostly kept them to myself. I was also diagnosed with Chronic Motor Tic Disorder around 15 & have had Skin Picking Disorder since 10. But I am also learning from the doctors that there are issues I have had since I was 6 that I was unaware of being OCD-related, like Harm Obsessions. The doctors have deemed treating the OCD a high priority & I will be receiving specific/targeted treatment for it for the first time.

I remember when I was diagnosed with OCD it was a little after my dad had passed away I was about 20 at the time but I remember getting old the symptoms of OCD and I kept telling my clinician at the time that it was OCD and she was like oh no it's just probably your anxiety so I convinced her to do a test and what do you know it was OCD. Yeah I know how you feel like it like a ton of intrusive thoughts like images.
