Anyone else experience nocturnal panic attacks?

Does anyone else have nocturnal panic attacks? I’ll wake up throughout the night feeling so anxious and I have to breathe my way through it! I use the calm app on my phone and that helps a lot. I’m just curious if anyone else experiences these in the middle of the night☹️ I had my first panic attack last December during a snow storm and it all just went down bill from there. I brought my mom home last January shortly after the huge panic attack I had in December and that’s when I started having these nocturnal panic attacks at night. I wasn’t having them to much during the summer but it’s like as soon as fall and winter shower back up so did these late night attacks. Almost like a ptsd reaction.

Are you just waking up and having panic attacks? Or is it nightmares that cause the panic attacks? I’ve have nightmares that cause panic attacks. I use to take minipress for nightmares and it worked great for me. Also being woken up by a panic attack could be a heart rate, blood pressure, or sleep disorder problem. If your heart is being weird or you stop breathing in your sleep, it could wake you up and send you into a panic attack. If it’s a sleep disorder, you might be able to do a sleep study and they might be able to stop the panic attacks while you’re asleep. It could just be a ptsd thing though. It sounds like it worth talking to your doctor about though.

PTSD from cold weather and abuse for me. Been taking a peaceful serenity tincture to help. Also may indicate hormone levels are off (making progress on mine) I know this sounds weird - night time soothing routine helps. Blackout curtains, chamomile tea, eye mask, Epsom salt baths, YouTube meditation music on all night, I also take advantage of my anxiety meds sleep properties. Anything to get your nervous system out of fight or flight mode

mine don't necessarily happen as I'm asleep because they tend to hit around nighttime but moreso when im going to bed. i did have one time where i had a panic attack while i was asleep because i tried to sleep it off and it was like "absolutely not, you're gonna feel this regardless." it really sucked, i'm sorry you're going through this!

i’ve been having nocturnal panic attacks since i was six believe it or not. i want to say it gets better but for me it hasn’t. i have a prescription for xanax so i’ll normally take one of those if i wake up with a panic attack.

Most of my panic attacks happen in the middle of the night because I'll be thinking about stressful things that happened that day, I just try to distract myself by going on my phone (which probably isn't good either but oh well lol).

hey everyone I've been on alot of those meds and I've learned that sometimes they have the opposite effect and alot of drugs yall have mentioned is highly addictive and you have to be taking off of them slowly. I would ask about vistareal its non addictive, and helps with anxiety and panic attacks its low dose and can be Taken with alot of other meds. they use it to also help people who are having surgery or Mri to help with anxiety

I'm on zoloft for the long term anxiety and depression. But for the panic attacks I take atavin/lorazpam. Works in about 30 minutes or so 🙏 ugh I wish none of us had to deal with this. I hate it so much

I've had some too, but usually the happen closer to morning when I'm about to wake up. Usually if I'm having them it means that I'm going through a rougher patch than usual though.

AmberB what medicine do you take? I’m considering Prozac because I’ve been on it in the past and I don’t remember any issues with it

AmberB. I have seen my doctor for the panic attacks. I also see a therapist. For almost a year now. I have a wonderful therapist! And I wake up the same exact way! Sweating is terrible for me too! The heart racing is scary and almost makes it worse 😔 I lost my mom to cancer last winter as well. So for for almost a year I’ve been dealing with the severe anxiety and panic attacks but I have quite a past and I didn’t hit my until I started therapy that I’ve had anxiety and depression my whole life for the most part.
