Today is the nine-year anniversary of my posterior fossa decompression to treat Chiari malformation. I lived for over 24 years in intense brain fog, with severe short-term memory loss and oppressively painful headaches. After a comparatively simple brain surgery and months of recovery, I ended up with a body and mind I could finally function in. Each day is now a gift. I would do it again in a minute, if I had to.
I've been considering surgery since my diagnosis but I'm scared. Seems like an intense surgery with so much recovery time. I guess I don't really know the payout because I've been living with it my whole life.
