Hey all new to the app- just got diagnosed today with mild crohns and MALS- median arcuate ligament syndrome. Didn’t see that coming. I’ve been struggling for about a year- doctors weren’t believing me. I feel so burnt out and don’t know what to do. Does medication help? Or should I take a holistic approach? Would love any input!! Thank you

Take your medication. You will not feel better if you don’t take it.

I think treatment all depends on the person and how their disease develops/progresses. When I was first diagnosed, I was put on different meds until I found something that worked for me. Trial and error lasted for quite a while until something worked. I think a holistic approach along with dietary changes can definitely help with symptoms and pain but for me, a holistic approach alone would not have been enough. I've been on Entyvio for 5 years now and it seems to be working pretty well.

I've had crohns for 4 years. I started following the "specific Carbohydrate Diet- scd community" and I'm still not on meds. When you start thinking of food as medicine for your body it will change the way you eat...especially if certain foods cause the disease to get worse, pain, or diarrhea.

Personally it all depends on the person and doctors recommendations. With myself personally, I’ve been on Remicade for almost 5 years, along with some dietary changes and amitrypline as well. I’d see what your doctor recommends and try different things

Not sure about MALS. Just got diagnosed with Crohn's myself in November, so going through the same thing D:
