34 years old. Newly diagnosed heart failure, 21% EF, no scarring or blockages seen so far. Trying my best to keep my head up with exercise and focusing on work and home life. I'm only 4 months along, but have lost 70 lbs, quit smoking, cut my salt to 2k mg's and have been following all the guidelines I can to a T. No surgery or implants yet, but am hopeful for a recovery if possible. Scared at times to be honest. I have a young daughter and a lovely wife. any advice or encouragement appreciated.

Hi, I know how you feel. When I was first diagnosed I was in the hospital and had a low EF. The doctor's kept trying to get me to get a defibrillator but I refused. So I kept making improvements and changing my diet as much as I could. I had to work on my stress levels too. I also started working out more, even though I am still struggling in the weight loss area. It's been a year and half since I was diagnosed with heart failure, cardiomyopathy and hypertension and I feel better than before. My blood pressure is normal now (at least most of the time lol), and my EF numbers increased so I don't need a defibrillator. I am going to get an echo redone again soon. Keep up the good work and try to remain positive. I was afraid too, still am, but everyday that I wake up I am grateful to God.

@Confidence thats great, I'm glad to see there are people with good recovery stories. Keep it up! This is really encouraging. I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety. Ended up in the hospital with a panic attack that I thought was a heart issue 2 weeks ago on my birthday. Since then they've put me on an anti anxiety medication. I'm doing everything I can to make sure I'm sticking around for the long haul for my daughter, but there's definitely good and bad days for sure.

@brogers7888 yes and you keep up the good work as well. Yeah you'll definitely have good days where you'll feel great and days where you'll feel down and tired. I've been feeling real tired lately so I've been trying to sleep better since I've been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea as well. Your daughter and wife are motivation to keep going. It's also good to do things you enjoy so that it helps keep your mind off of your conditions. I probably need anxiety medication at times, but I try not to stress and think of positive things. Happy belated birthday to you!
