Hi! I'm new to Alike and wanted to see what it was all about :) I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and am looking into various support resources.

Ok, this is kind of drastic, but due to an allergy that developed after I was diagnosed with pcos and insulin resistance, I had to stop eating sugar (cane sugar, brown sugar). We are talking, checking every label for the word “sugar,” and avoiding it if it has it listed as an ingredient. I still enjoy the ocasional sweet treat by using coconut sugar, maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar! It really REALLY changed the game for me when it comes to insulin resistance. Before the allergy and diet change, my A1C was in “pre diabetic stage.” The last time I went in, A1C was on the lower side of normal!!! I’m still on the metformin because pcos causes weight gain and the metformin helps with that! If at all possible, I HIGHLY recommend chatting with your dr about cutting cane and brown sugar from your diet!!

Metformin has helped me lose some weight. Mine still fluctuates some but for the most part I'm losing weight. I haven't gone on birth control since we're trying for a baby but it's been hard

I got started on the annovera birth control ring and metformin for my insulin resistance caused by it. The ring has been great, the metformin not so much hahaha
