If your psychiatrist asks you questions, be honest with every answer. I agree with one of the other users on this post who commented. You don't have to open up completely, it might take a few visits. But for a start, if they ask you a question, be honest with everything. That's the only way they'll know how to help you.

Bring fidgets if you need it to ease anxiety, if it's telehealth get comfy My first visit was pretty much just reviewing my file and what I want help on, I don't tell my psychiatrist a huge amount about my life mostly just problems I need addressed or help on
@Lightswitch yes!!! if it is telehealth, they literally aren’t allowed to judge. should you make a good first impression? yes. can a good impression be from your bed? yes. the first office i went to always had a bowl of fidgets and it was so helpful.
@mkd123 Tbh my therapist has told me she gets jealous of me because I always have a plushie chilling with me during my telehealth appointments lol
Been through this. Don’t go in expecting to want to open up completely, it’s ok if it takes a few visits.
