I went to the doctor today, and she changed my medications. I’m gonna be on seroquel, but haven’t been on it before. Any one have any experiences?

Worse medicine I ever tried. Paranoia got worse. Had to get off.

@Trustedbeginnings ohhhh no. That’s what I’m worried about. I already have bad paranoia with my schizophrenia…I do appreciate you sharing your story!

Seroquel made me drop outta high school. It made me sleep for like 15 hours and nothing could wake me up so I’d miss most of the school day and fell so behind that my only option was to drop out and get a GED. I automatically got off of it, it was basically ruining my life. Just a quick warning lol

@Lanny oh no! I will certainly keep it in mind, thank you for sharing your story with me

Hi I’m on seroquel . Dose has been adjusted a couple times. I don’t like how groggy I feel when I wake but I can’t sleep through the night without it 🤷🏻‍♀️. It does help with my mood though. I hope it works for you. Try to communicate as much as you can with your doctor(s) and of course we’re here for you too 🤗

@Harmonyy so far I have felt so much better. I haven’t gone higher than 100mg in a day, I sleep better, and for once I feel relaxed. Sure the first few days were terrible but I feel good now.

then yes, have the meds at night... you can function fine while you're awake, currently, right? i would recommend, the next time you see this doctor, tell them the time of day/night you want to take the meds... if you're anything like me, which you're most likely not, i was put on 800 milligrams of seroquel... i was supposed to have 200 milligrams during the day and 400 at night... I'm on different meds now, since 2018... in short term, yes... it will make you drowsy... it's supposed to help with the insomnia and the mood swings... i would recommend taking 25 milligrams in the morning, 25 in the afternoon, and then the 50 at night, just so your system knows what it is and doesn't reject it when you increase it over time...

@BaileyFawn ooh that makes perfect sense. I’ll have to try that. Thank you!

@Jonpup just as a precaution, i am not a medical licensed psychiatrist, so please talk to your doctor about this

I’m Seroquel and my mood and other negative effect from bipolar depression really improved! My advice is take it at night as it is also used to insomnia and you will sleep well on it.

do you know the milligrams of it? i was put on 100 mlg and it put my butt to sleep

      • Jonpup

@BaileyFawn so she’s starting me on 50mg, and said from there, I can increase it at 50mg increments, but not maxing 300mgs a day. I’m hoping it doesn’t put me to sleep, I drive a lot and can’t be drowsy 😭
