Nervous to Try New Anxiety Meds

Update . I hated hydroxyzine.

I was scared to try it too!!! I got it 3 months ago and just tried it last week. It wasn’t crazy at all, but it did the job. It mostly made me feel a little tired, but at the same time it did actually help my anxiety. It was nice, I’d recommend it.

I totally feel you on the anxiety of trying new meds. Especially since I end up getting like every side effect on every med. except this one.

I have taken it for 5 years and I love it. Helps me sleep better. Helps my allergies. Helps me not be drenched in sweat which is a side effect of my ssri. And absolutely no side effects.

It might make you sleepy is all. Nothing to be scared about.

I was never able to keep taking anxiety medication I was prescribed due to the same reason. I’m not sure what it’s even supposed to do, would it stop that burst/spike of panic in my chest or stomach? Would I not feel that sick/traumatized with fear feeling anymore? Or does it just make you drowsy?

I take this too! Just forgot to add it to my profile. I take a baby dose and I barely feel it so I’ll have to up it. Can you start with a super low dose?

Hydroxyzine has been a game changer for me! It's very mild as far as meds go. I totally get the fear that comes with trying a new med though. But it has made such a difference when my anxiety is feeling really out of hand

it’ll be okay luv i think the worst of it will be you get a little sleepy.hydroxizine is very common and very safe but if you’re worried ask your doc or a friend to sit with you for 30mins-1hr while you take the med to watch for reactions or anything. i’ve been taking it for 2ish years so feel free to message me and we can talk about it

No need to concerned, hydroxyzine is a safe med. It helps regulate serotonin to reduce anxiety, and you can use it as needed. It doesn’t work for everyone, but the worst side effect I’ve heard is drowsiness. There’s two versions, pamoate and HCL. The former is more likely to cause sleepiness, so I prefer the HCL. It works pretty well for me with no side effects!

Don't be nervous! It's a very mild one. Everyone reacts differently but it's kind of like a strong benadryl almost. Makes you relax and maybe sleepy. Most everyone tolerates it pretty well.
