The exam unfortunately seems to be a standard in the diagnosis journey. The only way to diagnose is through surgery. I had the surgery and was diagnosed in February. I had several exams and ultrasounds but they unfortunately just can't see endo. It does rule out anything else which is good.

The pelvic exam can help rule out other things, but absolutely will not tell you if you have endo. Neither will an ultrasound, unfortunately. My obgyn lead me to believe that not seeing something on my ultrasound meant I probably didn't have endo, but surgery is currently the only way to diagnose it.

Honestly? Pelvic exam has no relationship to a diagnosis, so if there’s no other reason for it being done then it’s kind of useless. Only dx for endo is surgical with pathology confirmation
