Negative Autism Test but Still Showing Symptoms

Has anyone else tested negative for autism but you still show all of the symptoms?

There is a lot of medical bias in diagnosing autism: if you're not male, white or have a co-occuring intellectual disability, it is possible that medical bias has impacted the outcome you got. I recommend continuing to research autism (and other neurodivergences) and just see what resonates!

Was the person conducting the test qualified to be doing so? I was diagnosed in a mental hospital, but as a teenager I had been taken to a lady who did nothing but the Connor’s CPT - which is an ADHD test, NOT an Autism test. It consists of pressing a button on the keyboard every time a certain letter flashes on the screen, if I remember correctly. That’s it. “If you do really bad at this, you have ADHD and if you do really good you have Autism,” she said. Again, the test is not designed to detect Autism at all. When the “test” came back “negative”, she was thrilled and spent an hour confiding in me about how much she “hates all her other patients” and how I was “special” and “so much better than all her other patients.” And told me about her crazy beliefs such as how she believes women can’t have PTSD.

yikes that sounds like she wasn't qualified to be any kind of mental health professional much less performing a diagnostic test for autism

to be honest I have no clue. I know my mom did most of the paperwork. I don’t remember doing anything other than memory cards, pattern recognition(?), and a 5 minute computer test. I’ve taken the RAADS and CAT-Q and I’ve scored high on them both or “within the spectrum”

Could be ocd or adhd. All three have very similar symptoms
