My Perspective on Self Care: It's Simpler Than You Think

okay so this isn't a question but I wanted to put this out there this is my perspective on the "self care" thing I think people make this out to be wayyy more than it should. Honestly the "self care" people talk about all the time sounds like so much work and so time consuming and definitely not a starting point. Basically personal friend advice (not professional) ignore it completely. The real "self care" is subconsciously make yourself feel like you're worth something to yourself. I don't get most self care topics because they talk about face maks, reading, spending time outside, etc. Sure those things are good if they are things you personally enjoy but for the general perso here is where you start. Pick one necessary need for your body and focus on it. (ex. brushing teeth, showering, drinking water, better breakfast in the morning) At the start of your day everyday even if it takes you 6 hours to get out of bed. Make it your number 1 priority to complete that one task. Do what you can for the rest but make that 1 the most important thing of the day. Then when you can consistently do that one thing on all good days and most bad days add the next necessary need. This is not a short process. It took me a year to create my routine but it's much easier than what most people try to have you do. I'm telling you pick 1 and make it your number 1 priority at the start of everyday

So even a year later it's still not fluid and you are allowed to have harder days and still be making progress in the long term, and you can have these days and still have made a lot of progress from your starting point

For anyone who sees this post in the future, today is a bad day for me 2:30 and I am just starting my routine. Thankfully I had the day off from work but if I had to work today I know I don't have much choice so I still get up get the uniform on and go but I skip over my routine until I come home and am ready to do it. On a normal day this routine takes about 20-30 minutes but I have a feeling today's going to be more like an hour or two and that's okay because I get it done and I feel okay. This really helps to avoid a bad day turning into a longer episode
