Muscle Rigidity - Seeking Advice

This could completely not be related to EDS but it’s highly confusing and EDS is too, so I’m looking here first! Recently I’ve noticed virtually every muscle in my body at one point or another just in a complete state of rigidness? Prominently in my legs, I’ll be sitting or laying in bed and they are just entirely flexed involuntarily. It’s just constant. It’s like my brain/body subconsciously chooses it bc once I notice that it’s happening I am technically able to put intention towards relaxing it, but every time I do it’ll slowly regain the same rigidness again in a few seconds! I feel like I’m not explaining it great, so forgive me! The internet says it’s related to stress but that answer doesn’t sit right with me for this. My TMJ? Tooootally can be connected to stress! This, though? This is something weird… I’m discovering muscles I didn’t even know I had! Does anyone identify with any part of this?

I do the same & sometimes for hours & then it causes so much muscle cramps! My pt said it’s the loose joints that your body is trying to keep in place! I think someone mentioned it above

I have EDS and Dystonia.. they feel like they shouldn't co-exist but it's worth a chat if you look it up and it makes sense

I was curious about dystonia when I was doing my initial research! I think I had felt that maybe my ability to technically be able to release these tensions if i really focus my mind towards it might have counted me out as it seemed like other people with dystonia didn’t experience the same kind of potential control like that! But I am still very new so maybe I shouldn’t have assumed that yet? We love self-gaslighting!

In my experience it's super normal with EDS. Because everything that isn't supposed to be very loose, ligaments for example, are loose that causes your muscles to stay tight which can be quite painful. They just kinda tense up to try and keep it all in place.

That makes so much sense when you put it like that and helped me to find some better info online about it that talks about just that! thank you!!!!! 💕

I totally understand this feeling! I get it especially in my shoulders and legs. However I have MS and parkinsism and EDS so not sure which is to blame. I hope you find relief soon!
