MTHFR Gene Mutation and Zoloft: Any Experiences?

Hi! Has anyone with the MTHFR gene mutation tried Zoloft? I’ve heard with certain genes and mutations you can have a bad reaction. I’m starting the process of talking to my doctor about getting on a daily anxiety medication and I’ve heard good things about Zoloft

Can you help? connect today

Wow I actually just started Zoloft and I have both mutations of MTHFR. I haven’t had a problem with it so far but I’ve only been taking it about 2.5 months

thank you for your insight! I have both mutations too which is why I was extra nervous, but that’s super good to know it’s been fine for you so far!

I had a serious Zoloft problem, never knew why. It was causing hallucinations and I Was barely conscious while on it. lol that’s probably why!

I take zoloft and have MTHFR. It's been years and I've never had a problem; however, I only have 1 gene.

With MTHFR, it's incredibly important to select such meds based on the comprehensive GeneSight report that was probably used to diagnose the MTHFR anyway.

There is no "one size fits all" approach to antidepressants with MTHFR. You are mostly on the right track, though! It boils down to cross-referencing meds with your specific genome. (From the test they probably used to diagnose MTHFR to begin with!)

Love my Zoloft. I’ve been on it for 6 years.
