Moving into a new place and feeling sick all day?

Anyone else have the problem when like they're moving into someplace new/new-ish (Ex: A college dorm, an apartment, etc) and you get this icky feeling for the whole day? Like you're dizzy and nauseous and can't think and only semi-cognizant of everything going on. But also also! Sensitive to sounds and too many things happening at once??? Like is this just a Me thing OR???-

Yes! I think it has something do with sensory overload

Probably. 🥲 I've been just kinda laying here on the bed since my family + bf left to try and recharge, only getting up to go check in that I do, in fact, exist on campus now to some Res Directors on my campus.

I absolutely experience that. For me, I have some external stressors like family, but for the most part it's just a lot of stress and sensory overload. Lots of stuff going on, making sure you have everything, trying to get things done quickly, etc. I'm usually excited to be going somewhere new but the actual move-in day is pretty awful.

yeah. mental, emotional and sensory overstimulation. plus it being a transitional thing makes everything extrw weird and liminal feeling. always feels weird for me too, its gotten better as i made friends in college bc if any one else is there i can try to spend time with them right away to take my mind off things and unpack more the next day when everythings less funky

Yeah. The most stress was moving away from my bf, who has been living w me and my family due to Situations. The unfortunate thing is mainly that most of my college friends have all graduated by now, so this is my first year without friends i'm especially close to 😖 Plus imma be alone in this dorm suite for like 3 weeks before everyone else moves in. Which is gonna be. Definitely Interesting. 😭

Semi-related but whenever I’m moving to a new place, I like to find a Chinese-American restaurant near me and order my same food because they tend to make the same dishes and eat it in the new place. It helps me feel at home and understand the continuity and how I got to where I am.
