Dealing with Anxiety in a Relationship

How do you thrive in a relationship when you have anxiety about literally everything and your partner doesn’t seem to get it at all? Or care, really. I know my anxiety is a constant but I’ve stopped speaking up about feeling bad because it seems to almost annoy my s/o. I feel like I’m trapped in my head with no out

Hi! I actually struggle with this quite a bit. Over time, I have started learning to advocate for myself with others on how I’m feeling. My partner doesn’t get me at my best if I’m having an “episode”, and I owe it to me *and* them to speak up when I’m feeling overwhelmed, no matter what their reaction to it is. I find it helps me when I try my best to be objective when I describe my feelings to them instead of letting my anxiety blow it out of proportion. Growing up with a parent with severe anxiety made me see both sides of the coin about dealing with anxiety and it can be difficult for others to deal with it as well. I find that being firm with my boundaries and honest with how I’m feeling helped a ton. At the end of the day, the people that truly care about you and want to see you do well will eventually adjust and learn to live with your condition as well!
