Struggling with Morning Asthma and Snoring

Why are mornings the worst as of late? I snore ( a lot) and sleep with my mouth open. Seems like no matter the treatment, my asthma comes back and becomes immune to what I’m taking. I’m wondering if my snoring causes me to become congested? Also, I feel as if I get temporary relief from couch syrup. It helps loosen what’s in my chest. Anybody relate?

um if I feel an asthma attack coming on I sit down criss cross and put my hands behind my head. Breath in for 4 seconds hold for 6 seconds and breath out for 4. Um if it helps think of smelling the roses and blow out the candles. That's what my mom used to tell me when I was younger and it helped a lot expecially if I didn't have an inhaler on me. Um Benadryl is a really safe over the counter medicine can can help during allergy season. Guafasin can help break up any mucus and lessen coughs it's usually in things like Mucinex. Aleve cold and sinus helps a lot too if you're coughing a lot. I have pretty bad allergies in fact I am still kicking mine after over a week from going to a city that has a lot of cedar and I'm really allergic to cedar pollen.

Flonase does work but it can cause nosebleeds! (At least it did for me) but it is getting close to allergy season so maybe make an appointment with your allergist! I usually get prescribed a steroid inhaler during the allergy season

thanks for your response. It’s much appreciated. I’m already on Breo (Trelegy as of late because of their free coupon), which are steroid inhalers. Still haven’t been getting relief. I am receiving shots because I’m apparently allergic to a lot of the grass, weeds, and trees here in SC. I’m not originally from here and apparently this area can affect new-comers. Been here for 7 years but as I look back, it gradually got worse. Again, thanks for your response. Is there anything else that you do specifically that might help? Im all for hearing other peoples opinion. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this would be applicable to you, but a fluticasone propionate nasal spray (Flonase, for example) can help with post-nasal drip while you are sleeping. It can take a week or two to begin working, but it helped alleviate some of the morning asthma symptoms/chest congestion I was having. And obviously, I would discuss it with your provider before trying it. For the snoring, have you discussed the possibility of a sleep study to check for something like sleep apnea? I have not done one, but I know that that can sometimes be an indicator of that or a similar condition. And this sounds weird, but I've heard of people using a light adhesive fabric medical tape to essentially hold their mouths closed at night. Unfortunately, I have kind of the opposite issue (clenching my jaw, so I have a bite guard), so I cannot speak from personal experience. I found out about that technique from some reviews on a cloth tape that I use for my finger joints (Nexcare Durapore Durable Cloth Tape, if you are curious). I know that my situation isn't exactly the same, so I apologize if this doesn't help. But I hope that you find something that works for you!

your response is very much appreciated! I just picked up my Trelegy and grabbed some nasal spray. Probably should had talked to the pharmacist about it but I didn’t have the time. As for your mouth guard, I’ve heard many people, namely, Joe Rogan whom have sworn by it. I have been told by many people that I either snore or that I look “dead” when I sleep. Scary. I’m really considering the mouth guard. Just want some damn relief 😣 I’m an MMA fighter and it makes training so difficult. I’m not getting any younger and want to take my game as far as possible but feel like this is really holding me back 😔
