Is anyone younger but having pretty severe symptoms that are negatively affecting mobility? Do you guys use walking aids and if so what was the point you realized you needed them?

Currently not using mobility aids except for braces but we had a walker for a few years! We had our first hip surgery at 22 and soon after sprained an ankle horribly and the walker gave us the ability to go to classes. We keep our mobility aids around just in case- we always have a cane in our car!

I'm 24 and by sheer luck, found an ultralight wheelchair my size on Craigslist. It helps SO MUCH when I'm out and about. I think I should have had one years ago but I didn't have any diagnosis until fairly recently, so thought my pain was all in my head and I just had to tough it out. Reading others' comments, I may look into forearm crutches too.

I’m 18, I use platform crutches. They help a lot, but there are still times with them that I can’t do things like shop for a long time, or walk around a museum because it hurts too much

I got a wheelchair at the thrift store that fits me perfectly (it's a custom ultralight chair that I happened up by sheer luck). I use it to conserve energy when shopping, and may start using it at work. My Dr is definitely for this, which really helps.

I just started using one yesterday and so far it has been so helpful. I feel so much more steady and less fatigued. I’m using forearm crutches but so far I’ve just been using the one mostly, like a cane. (I’m 18

I’m 25 and use a cane and a rollator. And I have a basic wheelchair for bigger outings. Honestly I waited way too long to start using them. I believe that if you think you could benefit from a mobility aid it’s worth trying
