i find myself thinking a lot about how much easier my life would be with a mobility aid (besides the usual tape/braces), how did y'all know it was time for one?

I started using my cane when my hip started dislocating and the pain was so bad I could barely walk, but I knew it was time for my wheelchair when my POTS symptoms got worse and then started having seizures that would sometimes leave me unable to walk. That and the very painful muscle contractions in my legs.

If you think you need one, it’s probably been time for a while already.

People realized it was time for a mobility aid when they found that their pain was unmanageable, or when they noticed that using a mobility aid would give them back the freedom to do things they couldn't do otherwise. For example, one person started using a mobility aid when they realized they couldn't go grocery shopping for as long as they needed. Another person started using a mobility aid once they realized that the pain wasn’t manageable anymore. Some people also mentioned that they decided to get a mobility aid when they found that their mobility was affecting their ability to enjoy time out, by themselves or with others.
