How does drinking work on medications such as Clonadine? So many medicines say dont drink while taking it but the majority of people drink alcohol and so many people are on meds so how do you drink if your on meds like Clonadine that say to not mix alcohol with it? If your on the lowest dose possible does that effect if you can or not more so?

Some medications interact with drugs, alcohol, or other medications in the sense that they exacerbate the effects of the other. I’d recommend (at minimum) looking up any 2 substances on drugs.com and seeing if there’s any reaction listed before you take them together. Checking with the prescribing doctor is also a good idea. Personally, when I’ve smoked weed while on Abilify and/or Zoloft, I got high a lot faster than someone who’s not on those meds would.

This is not medical advice I am not a doctor: I take it for anxiety to help me fall asleep at night. If I have had more alcohol than about one glass of wine, I will either cut my dose in half or not take it. If you have drank a lot and take it, it can be dangerous

@doodle0118 so not taking it the night before a day before you drink makes it safer to get drunk? Thats kinda what i figured people did but i wasnt sure

One user mentioned that mixing alcohol with Clonidine, a blood pressure medicine, is not recommended. However, they noted that a friend who had done it a few times experienced feeling drunk faster and more woozy/dizzy. Another user suggested that if you have issues already with hypertension, you might be okay, but it's definitely a risk as it can impair your respiratory system. It's important to note that these are personal experiences and not medical advice.
