What are some of everyone's triggers? Trying to figure out some things. Been getting migraines worse and worse the past few weeks. Not sure if it's my medicines not working or new triggers. Plus for some reason I can't get my relief medicine from the pharmacy.

@MorRhioghain extremely bright light aggregates me as well, however, it can be both natural and unnatural light in my case. I feel blinded above a certain brightness. If it's specifically unnatural light, try using natural bulbs around your home. Home Depot sells them, and they also double as a great option for photography. I've used them, but they are just too bright for my daily use. They really do simulate natural sunlight in the dark hours. This means it will look like midday in that room as if you stepped outside during midday, except it's actually night.

flashing lights, heat, pure silence (i always need some type of noise like white noise/fan/music/tv going) no caffeine or too much caffeine

I've cut caffeine out for almost 5months now. It has made a big difference. Heat is my biggest one. I'm not sure how to stay cool without an ac unfortunately.

@Andizee for a temporary heat relief place a wet frozen small towel on your neck

@Andizee I drink ice cold water at night and after showers to help with this. Glad it's not just me

Alcohol, period, feeling overwhelmed and unable to get away

Lack of sleep, dehydration, caffeine, alcohol, allergies/sinus problems, bright light in a dark room (i.e. white scenes in a movie or TV show with the lights off, phone brightness set too high)

@SmileySnail Dehydration seems to affect frequency more than pretty much anything - if I'm dehydrated even sumatriptan won't always shake a migraine

@SmileySnail I'm so glad you said that because my sumatriptan didn't work for a few days. Perhaps that was why. Thanks

I dont know my triggers yet but I will say nurtec ODT changed my life. Triptans always made me go up way worse once they were finished and nurtec as an emergency med is amazing

Barometric pressure, heat, neck position while sleeping are my triggers.

@Tarheels go to the ER and get a “migraine cocktail” for migraines that do not go away it is the only thing to do and it is the sweetest relief

Barometric pressure/drastic change of weather, neck pain, STRESS, travel, motion sickness, dehydration

@AlyssaNicole89 The sea bands that some people use for motion sickness on boats and planes help my migraines when traveling

Changes in the climate...barometric pressure...often times will cause migraines. It's scientifically proven. Can't change the weather...sucks.

I found one of the things that triggered mine the absolute worst was actually food dye! Red #40 to be specific, but I avoid them all now! (Blue 1, yellow 5 and 6!) most European countries have actually banned dye like these because of the problems! My doctor said shes seen a ton of kids with problems that all linked back to dye as well! Figured it was a weird one I should mention, it might help someone!

So I don't have triggers like most, my migraine are created from a mass in my brain... but I do get this Intense pressure behind my eyes to the point I can't stand, right before the migraine kicks in, and I luckily do have a preventive medicine I take.

I get extremely bad migraines, and sometimes they last for months on end. I was told I need to get a referral to a neurologist, but I have not had much luck getting the referral from my primary. My ophthalmologist told me to talk to my primary about the referral to the neurologist. I do plenty of research online about how to deal with it in the meantime.

I have a lot of food triggers that I discovered through an allergy and intolerances test. Once I removed those foods from my diet, I've been almost migraine free. This discovery was about 5 years ago. I went through the allergytestingcompany.com for my test.

@mermaidap wow, I would have thought the other way around since lavender helps calm me down a little. I hope you find an aroma that does not trigger anything, but instead calms you. Best of luck! 😇
