Need help. New treatment. 15mg methotrexate 1x per wk & 1mg folic acid daily for Lupus. Read mixed messages and need advice - should I take methotrexate morning or night? and should I skip folic acid the day I take methotrexate? Thanks guys!

My wife has always taken her methotrexate and folic acid at night because she also has to take levothyroxine which isn't supposed to be taken with anything else.

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately my ability to function during the day is bare minimum. Hoping this tx makes a big difference

For the first week I would take your mtx before bed just so if you do experience side effects like I did, its not affecting your ability to function during the day. And definitely take you folic acid, dont skip out on it. It is there to help prevent hair loss from the mtx.

take folic acid every day apart from the day you take the methotrexate, i personally take methotrexate in the morning with the rest of my medication and ive been doing so for 3 years with no negative reactions :)
